The network of ten automatic water monitoring stations in the Kalama, Louro and Arachthos rivers, installed as part of the “Epirus Waters” project by the Institute of Marine Biological Resources and Inland Waters (I.THA.VIPEY) is in full operation .) and is financed by the Green Fund
The operation of the network can contribute to water management and protection from natural and man-made disasters, as noted in the 2nd Online Working Meeting of the project, which was attended by 15 scientists from nine different bodies of Epirus related to management and monitoring of waters, including the Region of Epirus, the Decentralized Administration of Epirus – Western Macedonia, the Management Unit of Epirus – OFYPEKA and the Hydrobiological Station of Ioannina.
At the meeting, there was a discussion but also the formulation of proposals, with the aim of optimizing and better utilizing the network in the area, while it was decided to continue the meetings with the life project team, in order to have further cooperation for the expansion of the network of automatic stations as well as to make better use of their measurements.
