The 4th General High School of Rhodes, as part of the cultural program entitled “World Day of the Greek Language”, took part for the second year in a row in the day in Naples for the celebration of the World Day of the Greek Language on February 9, 2024.
The 9th of February, commemoration day of our national poet Dionysios Solomos, has been established since 2017 as World Day of the Greek Language at the initiative of the Federation of Greek Communities and Fraternities of Italy.
Since then, the day has been solemnly celebrated in Naples with the schools’ Day-Marathon entitled “GREEK IS RESERVED”. The event is organized by the Coordinator of the Classical High Schools of Campania in collaboration with the Greek Community, with the support of the Municipality of Naples and the Archaeological Museum and under the auspices of the Greek Embassy. The theme of this year’s event was the Trial, i.e. Justice.
The students of the 4th GEL of Rhodes presented excerpts from works of ancient and modern Greek literature and attended excellent presentations of classic Italian high schools as well as Greek schools.
Twenty-six students of the 1st Lyceum took part in the day, accompanied by the responsible teachers of the cultural program Mrs. Hatzizisis Eleni, Lenti Kalliopi and Lyristi Eugenia. The students who participated in the day-marathon are the following: Zamantakis Selin-Mouradieu, Kalogirou Anastasia-Angeliki, Georgia Albanou-Tsambika, Ambela Evdokia-Fanouria, Athanasakis Grigorios, Alina Anasovits, Nancy-Ilieva Apostolova, Kastrounis Stamatios, Kostantinou Evangelia-Eleftheria , Markopoulou Panagiota, Anna Mastrosavvaki, Moschi Tsambika-Michaella, Moschou Maria-Arietta, Bouklas Michael, Dellaki Gabriella, De Louka Philippos, Dedesoglou Aileen, Durali Narin-Dourdane, Panagiotidou Raphael, Papadopoulos Kosmas, Papatheodorou Despina, Polia Catholic-Angeliki, Sansoglou Seiya-Irini, Selmani Melina, Sidiropoulou Alexandra, Hatzopoulou-Musat Maria. The 4th GEL of Rhodes is very grateful to Mr. Ioannis Corinthios, former president of the Federation of Greek Communities and Fraternities of Italy, professor at the University of Naples and Calabria and initiator of the establishment of the World Day of the Greek Language, who enabled the students of the school to participate for second time at this very important event.
