New measures for farmers and transporters were announced by Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Cholaku at the beginning of today’s government meeting, which was broadcast live on the institution’s official Facebook page, BTA reported. Over 1.2 billion lei (BGN 480 million) of European funds will reach more than 700,000 farmers in the crop and livestock sectors.

“The funds represent transitional national aid financed by European funds. More than 550,000 farmers from the crop sector and 200,000 from the livestock sector will benefit from these amounts,” said Marcel Cholaku.

He also announced that at the border points at Kalafat, Nudlak II and Borsh II, lanes intended for vehicles registered in the EU are being opened. Thus, Romanian carriers will have an advantage over trucks from Ukraine or Turkey.

“Soon there will be such at the border crossing near Gyurgevo,” added Çolaku. His words were confirmed by the Minister of Transport Sorin Grindyanu.

“The designated lanes at the Gyurghevo border crossing point will be able to be used after the implementation of the new truck pre-selection/selection system (including the installation of an additional scale). I specify that only trucks registered in the European union,” Grindeanu emphasized.
