This was confirmed by the GANA deputy and director of the Legislative Assembly, Guillermo Gallegos, who expressed that it will be the president of the Assembly himself who must explain the reasons for traveling to that country.

According to Gallegos, Deputy Reyes left the country over the weekend in the company of FMLN deputy Manuel Flores. At the moment it is unknown whether the deputies’ trip was made with resources from the Assembly or at the invitation of some organization.

Recently the head of the Legislative Parliament reportedly expressed his desire to form a commission to travel to Palestine and verify the damage caused by Israel’s attacks. It would be a trip of “solidarity,†Reyes said at the time.

His idea sparked discontent among the population, who expressed their rejection of the trip on social media, alleging that the country does not have enough resources to allocate them to this type of mission.

A recent ALAC report from FUNDE indicated that during 2013 the Legislative Assembly spent more than $1 million on 304 trips to different countries around the world to participate in various workshops and congresses.
