The mayor of Soyapango, Jaime Lindo, made it official this morning that he will not seek re-election as councilor of that municipality due to personal and professional projects.

However, he highlighted that in their management they have invested in the recovery of parks and green areas, repaired more than 90 municipal streets, the installation of more than 9 thousand lights, strengthening of sports and the construction of the Municipal Cemetery, work which will be ready at the end of this year.

He emphasized that the ARENA party is not removing him from office but that it has been its own decision. Lindo arrived in the municipality of Soyapango under the flag of the tricolor party in the 2012 elections, conquering one of the FMLN’s stronghold cities.

“After meditating with God and my family, I have made the decision not to seek re-election in the upcoming elections. My profession, which I love and long for and have practiced for more than 20 years, and other projects of a professional nature make me give up the opportunity to another nationalist at heart,” said the mayor, in a statement addressed to the inhabitants of Soyapango.

The councilor proposed two people who could be considered by the ARENA leadership for a pre-candidacy for mayor. They are Marlon Manzano (former director of Un Techo para mi PaÃs) and Rodrigo GodÃnez (member of the labor sector).

ARENA has scheduled the internal election for August 24 to validate its mayoral candidates. Today ARENA began the registration process for the ten municipalities where they still do not have candidates for mayor, including Mejicanos and Quezaltepeque.
