Chairman of Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Prof. Shibli Rubaiyat-ul-Islam said that in addition to the special audit in the listed companies in the capital market, it is being checked whether the withheld dividend has been properly distributed or not. A lot of interesting information is coming out from the audits I am doing with the Capital Market Stabilization Fund (CMSF). In particular, it comes out whether companies have been distributing dividends properly for the past 30-40 years Many new learnings are coming out of working with them.
He said these things at the inauguration of the new committee and outgoing committee of the Capital Market Journalists Forum (CMJF) at the multi-purpose hall of the Securities Commission Building in Agargaon, capital, on Thursday (February 15).
CMJF President Golam Samdani Bhuiyan presided over the program and General Secretary Abu Ali conducted the event. Commissioner of BSEC Dr. Sheikh Shamsuddin Ahmed, Dr. Mizanur Rahman, Md. Abdul Halim, Dr. Rumana Islam, Executive Director Saifur Rahman, Rezaul Karim and members of CMJF were present.
BSEC Chairman said, BSEC is working to increase contribution to economy through sustainable development of capital market. Despite the lack of manpower, audits are being conducted regularly in various companies. It is looking into whether the listed companies have properly distributed their declared dividends in the last three decades. Action will be taken against any irregularity.
He said, we try to cooperate with you from all sides. If any assistance is needed on how to improve the work of CMJF, we will try. The more inquisitive you are, the more we benefit.
Responding to the question regarding the obstruction of entry of journalists in BSEC, Professor Shibli said, “We will see if anyone can enter the securities exchange of other countries or not.” We see you (journalists) as eyes, ears and nose since our commission came. We are your friends. You can do well, we are watching them all. We are doing all these things to gather your experience by visiting the country and abroad.

In the event, CMJF President SM Golam Samdani Bhuiyan said, correct information is required for correct news. Many journalists have complained that we cannot enter BSEC. We seek the cooperation of BSEC so that journalists can enter BSEC smoothly. If someone doesn’t want to give information, that’s his personal matter. However, we demand that the access of journalists to BSEC be freed.
BSEC Chairman felicitated the outgoing committee members of CMJF and welcomed the new committee members.
