Tragedy struck the city of Miami again, when a woman lost her life after being hit by a truck while crossing the street with a baby, who was inside her car.
According to information provided by the local press, the incident occurred this Wednesday, around 1:00 in the afternoon, at the intersection of Biscayne Boulevard and Northeast 22nd Street.
Miami police reported that the woman took advantage of the fact that traffic was stopped to cross the road, but when the vehicles moved again, the truck driver did not see her and, unfortunately, ended up running over her.
After being hit, the victim’s body was left under the truck and one of her lower extremities was even crushed by the tire, making the situation more dramatic.
The baby, who was in the stroller, was fortunately unharmed and was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital to be evaluated by the specialists on duty.
It is important to mention that, so far, the identification of either the person hit by a vehicle or the driver of the truck has not been revealed.
Currently, Miami police are still trying to determine the relationship between the woman and the baby.
On the other hand, it is worth noting that the truck driver stayed at the scene and collaborated with the authorities.

The first investigations showed that the vehicle in question was going at a very slow speed due to the prevailing traffic congestion.
So far, no criminal charges have been filed against the driver, but the investigation continues.
It is expected that, in the next few hours, Miami detectives will be able to offer more information in this regard. Meanwhile, they urged the community, both drivers and pedestrians, to be cautious when being on the street.
