With the participation of over 70 children, the Epirus & Ionian Islands Regional Competition of the FIRST® LEGO® League Ioannina will take place tomorrow Saturday.

The Regional Competition is a collaboration between the University of Ioannina and Eduact, is under the auspices of the Region of Epirus and will be hosted at the 27th Primary School of Ioannina, from 9 am to 6 pm, with free entry for the public. It is conducted with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Religion and Sports, and is held this year for the 11th consecutive year, involving more than 2,000 children nationwide in STEM. The competent body and national organizer for Greece is the Eduact Educational Organization.
In the FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge teams engage in research, problem solving, programming and robotics. The competition introduces children aged 9-16 to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) concepts through fun and hands-on learning. Participants gain real-world problem-solving experience through a guided, global robotics program that supports today’s students and educators to build a better future together.
During this year’s 2023/2024 MASTERPIECE℠ season, the competition focuses on the role STEM plays in the arts and empowers young people to design and build a world of endless possibilities.
The FIRST® LEGO® League is a collaboration between FIRST® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) and the educational sector of LEGO® Education and has been organized annually since 1998 in more than 110 countries worldwide.
The Epirus & Ionian Islands Regional Competition is one of the eight regional competitions that will be held this year in Greece. A total of 1/3 of the teams will secure their qualification to the final of the FIRST® LEGO® League Greece, which will take place on March 9 and 10 in Thessaloniki.
The winning teams of the Panhellenic final will represent our country in the world competitions that will take place on April 17-20 in Houston, USA, on May 14-17 in Bodø, Norway and in July 2024 in Sydney, Australia.
