The Spanish company Enjoy Travel Group will establish direct charter flights between Madrid and Havana next summer. To this end, as explained to Prensa Latina this Tuesday by the vice president of marketing and sales of the firm, Luis Jiménez, will have an Airbus plane from the Plus Ultra company with 288 seats. The route will be operational between June 29 and September 7, 2024.
The executive also assures that they have closed agreements with high-speed train companies in Spain – the official agency mentions the state-owned Renfe and the private Iryo – to connect the provinces with the Spanish capital, where they can take the flight to Havana. On the Island, the tour operator collaborates with large hotel companies such as Meliá, Iberostar, Blue Diamond and Kempinski.
To open this new route, he says, they were based on the previous “success” of a similar route from Barcelona, which was operational last summer with a weekly frequency. Precisely in July 2023, Enjoy Travel was involved in some controversy when sponsoring the trip to Cuba of more than 20 influencers Spaniards with the aim of encouraging foreign tourism to the Island, which, despite what the regime advertises, does not raise its head: in 2023 there were 2,436,980 international visitors, 42.8% less than in 2019 and 31% below expectations.

Prensa Latina reports, through Luis Jiménez, that the “accessible tourism” firm is “a receptive vertical wholesale operator for more than 20 years, which now offers customer assistance and advice in Cuba 24 hours a day, and programs complete both circuits and combinations”.
The president of the Ibero-American Accessible Tourism Network, Diego González, who is also an advisor to Enjoy Travel, told the official agency that Cuba “facilitates” travel for “people with disabilities or reduced mobility.”
The same tour operator offers “multi-destination” trips from Mexico, from where it manages 15 weekly frequencies to the Island.
As for the Plus Ultra airline, the same one with which Miguel Díaz-Canel has made his last international trips due to the lack of Cubana de Aviación aircraft and which is recovering strongly after complaints for alleged irregularities in a plane were filed. loan granted by the Spanish Government, thus increasing its presence on the Island.
