For another week, most basic foodstuffs, fruits and vegetables went up in price minimally on the exchanges in the country during the week, according to the data in the weekly bulletin of the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets (DKSBT).

The market price index (PIC), which reflects the movement of wholesale food prices in our country, rose by 0.18 percent to 2,284 points during the week. Last week, the ITC was at the level of 2,280 points, according to data in the weekly bulletin of the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets (DKSBT).

The level of the ITC at the beginning of last year was 2,316 points, and in the first third of March it reached its spring maximum of 2,480 points. The base level of the ITC – 1,000 points – is from 2005.

Imported cucumbers rose in price by 2.4 percent to BGN 3.46 per kilogram. The price of tomatoes (import) increased by 0.9 percent and they are traded at BGN 3.53 per kilogram, while the price of potatoes jumped by 3.2 percent to BGN 1.30 per kilogram, BTA reported.

Carrots kept their price at BGN 1.17 per kilogram, and ripe onions (import) increased in price by 8.5 percent to BGN 1.53 per kilogram. The price of cabbage jumped by 10.5 percent to BGN 1.05 per kilogram, and red peppers (import) by 2 percent to BGN 3.60 per kilogram.

The price of imported apples rose by 2.2 percent and they are traded at BGN 1.84 per kilogram. Lemons rose in price by 3.8 percent to BGN 2.20 per kilogram, and bananas by 1.1 percent to BGN 2.86 per kilogram. Mandarins became cheaper by 3 percent to BGN 2.30 per kilogram, and oranges by 3.9 percent to BGN 1.98/kg.

The price of cow’s cheese is lower by 0.3 percent to BGN 11 per kilogram, and of “Vitosha” cheese by 0.1 percent to BGN 16.74 per kilogram.

Yogurt (3 and over 3 percent fat) became cheaper by 0.8 percent and was bought at BGN 1.17 for a bucket of 400 grams, while fresh milk (3 percent fat) increased in price by 0.9 percent to 2 .27 leva per liter.

The price of chicken meat jumped by 0.8 percent and it is available at BGN 6.27 per kilogram. Eggs (size M) are bought at BGN 0.37 per piece wholesale at the end of the week, which is 2.6 percent down.

The price of rice decreased by 1.2 percent and is traded at BGN 3.28 per kilogram, and lentils – by 0.5 percent and is BGN 4.20 per kilogram, respectively. The price of ripe beans decreased by 1.7 percent to BGN 4.10 per kilogram.

Sugar is traded at BGN 2.18 per kilogram, which is 1.8 percent down. The price of oil is higher by 3.8 percent – up to BGN 2.70 per liter. Type 500 flour became cheaper by 0.8 percent to BGN 1.22 per kilogram. The price of cow’s butter (packet of 125 grams) rises by 1.5 percent to BGN 2.65 per piece.
