At the WKNÖ Siegerlounge – the apprentice festival, the best apprentices in Lower Austria are put in the spotlight for their outstanding achievements during their apprenticeship training. On February 15, 2024, the VAZ St. Pölten once again became the venue for the annual winners’ lounge. With over 200 different apprenticeships in Austria, the event is a unique forum for young talent from various industries. Under the motto “The right thing for every type”, the winner’s lounge combines technical, communicative, organizational and creative aspects and offers a platform for the outstanding achievements of apprentices from all over Lower Austria. Here, those interested in technology meet those who are sociable, organizational geniuses meet those with numbers, the skilled meet the powerful, all-weather types meet office plants – a colorful mix that reflects the diversity of training paths. The highlight of the event is the honoring of the winning apprentices by State Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner and WKNÖ President Wolfgang Ecker. Among those honored are five outstanding apprentices from the Groß Gerungs Cardiovascular Center who impressed with their achievements:

• Mariella Faltin (Apprentice Service) achieved 1st place in the Junior Skills Lower Austria.

• Julia Katzenschlager (Apprentice Service) won gold at the Junior Skills Austria and completed the final apprenticeship examination with excellent success.

• Tobias Baumgartner (kitchen apprentice) won the silver medal at the Junior Skills Austria and completed his final apprenticeship examination with good success.

• Selina Wansch (hotel and hospitality assistant apprentice) took third place in the Junior Skills Lower Austria.

• Bernhard Weichselbaum (hotel and hospitality assistant apprentice) secured the silver medal at the Junior Skills Austria and achieved excellent results in his final apprenticeship examination.

The Groß Gerungs Cardiovascular Center, one of the largest apprentice companies in Lower Austria, has been successfully training apprentices in the hotel and catering sector for more than 40 years. In addition to apprenticeship training to become a chef and restaurant specialist, the company also offers apprenticeships to become a catering specialist and a hotel and restaurant specialist.
