Three new protected areas have been announced by order of the Minister of Environment and Water, Julian Popov. These are “Marmor Dam”; “Vagenitsova meticlina deposit – Valcha polyana” and “Monastery ladder”. A ban is introduced on activities that may lead to the destruction of the species – subject to protection, and their habitats as a change in purpose and method of sustainable land use; construction and other activities leading to a change in the landscape; search, exploration and extraction of underground resources; introduction of non-native and foreign plant and animal species, etc. The press center of the Ministry of Environment and Water informs about this The three orders are to be promulgated in the State Gazette.

Protected area “Marmor Dam” (with an area of ​​402,876 decares) was declared at the suggestion of nature lovers ornithologists – Neli Doncheva and Leonora Shtarkova. The aim is to protect a lake ecosystem, representing a habitat for about 200 valuable and protected species of birds, among which the white egret, gray duck great white heron little cormorant etc.

Protected area “Wagenitza cornflower site – Valcha polyana” (with an area of ​​9,422 decares) was declared on the proposal of the Institute of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Research at the BAS with the aim of protecting an endangered and protected plant species, representing a tertiary relic – Centaurea wagenitziana , and its habitat.

The protected area “Manastirska stilka” (with an area of ​​364,470 decares) was declared on the proposal of the Regional Inspectorate for Environment and Water (RIOSV) – Veliko Tarnovo. The subject of protection is a significant nesting habitat of endangered, rare and vulnerable rock-nesting bird species, including black stork, black-thorned kestrel, raven, etc. The adjacent forests and meadows are a hunting territory for a large hawk, a white-tailed buzzard and a common buzzard, and there are also reports of a peregrine falcon, as specified by the Ministry of Education and Culture.

At the beginning of the month, the director of RIOSV – Varna, Erdzhan Sebaytin, announced to BTA that the territories of two protected areas in Varna – “Skorpilovtsi Beach” and “Galata” are becoming larger according to the directive on habitats and the protection of the habitats of various species of animals and plants .
