Preparation of a “road map” for the development of the Alyat Free Economic Zone (FEZ) has begun, Day.Az reported on Thursday with reference to a publication on social networks by the acting Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan, head of the working group for monitoring the development of the Alyat FEZ, Mikail Jabbarov.
“At the first meeting of the working group created for the Alyat FEZ, on February 14, discussions were held on the prospects for the development of the FEZ and the preparation of a corresponding road map,” Jabbarov said.
In his opinion, the Alyat FEZ will contribute to the dynamic and sustainable development of the Azerbaijani economy, because export-oriented industries with high added value located in the FEZ provide innovative technologies.
“The favorable conditions offered in the Alyat FEZ increase interest in it,” Jabbarov noted.
Let us recall that the working group for the Alyat SEZ was created on February 1, and its main goal is to develop a master plan for the territories allocated for this SEZ, the development and implementation of territorial-external and territorial-internal transport (railway and road) and engineering projects ( water, gas, electricity, sewerage, etc.) infrastructure with the participation of relevant government agencies and organizations.
It should be noted that the territory of the Alyat SEZ has three zones – 206 hectares, 433 hectares and 211 hectares with developed infrastructure. Construction of the airport has begun.
At the initial stage, all construction work is carried out on an area of 60 hectares.
Customs facilities have already been erected at the entrance to the SEZ to optimize logistics operations.
The upcoming phase of development will focus on designing facilities for standard manufacturing plants, logistics centers and heavy industrial plants in designated areas totaling 349 hectares.
Fiscal and non-fiscal benefits and simplified administrative procedures will be applied to investors.
Direct connection of the SEZ with maritime infrastructure will allow developing the transit and logistics capabilities of Azerbaijan.
