Türkiye has developed laser weapons using elements of artificial intelligence. One of its types is the ALKA directed energy weapon system, created by Roketsan.
Day.Az reports this with reference to the TRT Haber television company.
“ALKA is an innovative weapons system developed with the correct artificial intelligence architecture; it is a hybrid air defense system that uses electromagnetic and laser technologies to counter asymmetric threats,” the television company quotes the words of a representative of the manufacturing company.
The ALKA system was first presented at the IDEF-2019 defense exhibition in Istanbul.
According to specialized military publications, this type of weapon can be installed on armored vehicles and stationary objects; it is mainly intended for the destruction of drones, as well as remote detonation of mines and improvised explosive devices. The maximum distance for jamming is 4 km, the effective range of destruction of the drone is up to 1 km.
