Allow sports parents to see their children during the Olympic and Paralympic Games, outside the competition zones and without this disrupting final preparation or breaking the harmony of national teams… This is the challenge of the reflections carried out by the Committee International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Paris 2024, keen to take into consideration the evolution of society. However, there is no question of compromising on certain rules: the village is above all reserved for athletes and visits by non-accredited people will remain, this summer, only authorized between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.
Whatever the new rule set in the coming weeks, no child will be able to sleep in the Olympic village. As the rooms are not individual, Paris 2024 is considering solutions allowing moms and dads to meet their children in dedicated spaces, without these taking the form of daycare. Because visits must remain exceptional, and placed under the control of the national Olympic committees, which manage the “guest passes” made available to them as they wish.
