“Everyone wants to fight at the Olympic weight. This is fine”.

This was stated by Murad Mamedov, Greco-Roman wrestler of the Azerbaijani national team, who was a guest of the “İdman Bizdə” program.

The continent’s strongest athlete in the 63 kg weight category plans to change weight. He said that he intends to move to the Olympic category – up to 60 kg: “Since Taleh Mammadov, the leader in the 63 kg weight, injured his knee, my coaches and I decided that I would fight in this weight. Nikhat Mammadli also competes in this category. I I’m already thinking about competing in the Olympic weight category, which I once fought in. I recently read on your website that the silver medalist of the last European Championship Rashad Mamedov (55 kg) wanted to fight in the 60 kg weight category. Of course, the coaches will decide who will compete in this weight. If they feel the need, then we can also spar with Nikhat Mammadli.”

Mamedov also spoke about the wrestlers whom he sees as opponents if he moves to the weight category up to 60 kg: “Here I have 3 main opponents. One of them is a Bulgarian wrestler. And I’m afraid of the technique that he does on the ground, so now I’m working on him. Others in the world are Joloman Sharshanbekov from Kyrgyzstan and Kenichiro Fumita from Japan.”

It should be noted that Nikhat Mammadli, who fights in the weight category up to 60 kg, is also the winner of the last European Championship, like Murad Mammadov.
