The restoration of the helicopter pad at MOBAL “Dr. Stefan Cherkezov” has begun. The area on which it is located is in the shape of a square with dimensions of 40/40 m. A circle will be drawn in it with a special marking, and inside it will there is a red cross that will mark the landing place of the medical helicopters, the press center of the regional hospital announced.
“The ground will be leveled. The existing site with a foundation must be rehabilitated with one layer of asphalt concrete, one sealing layer of asphalt must be laid and the marking in question will be placed on it,” explains the executive director of the Veliko Tarnovo hospital, Dr. Daniel Iliev.
The project envisages the construction of two runways for landing and take-off, for which it is planned to clean part of the tree and shrub vegetation in the yard of the hospital.
The driveway from the helipad to the road to the Emergency Department will also be repaved. Special lighting, video surveillance and a room for the service staff will be installed.
BGN 120,000 has been provided by the Ministry of Health for the restoration, but the regional hospital management estimates that the project will be completed for less than the estimated amount.
It is expected that the helipad at MOBAL “Dr. Stefan Cherkezov” will be operational by the end of March.
