On the occasion of Great Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day, BNP paid deep respect to the memory of the martyrs of the language movement of ’52. The party’s secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir paid tribute in a statement.

In a statement on Tuesday (February 20), Mirza Fakhrul said, February 21 is a fiery day of protest against injustice and injustice. The glorious example of self-sacrifice they have set by sacrificing their lives for the mother tongue has inspired us in various movements and struggles in later times.

Mirza Fakhrul also said, following the path of democratic and freedom movement, we have descended into the freedom war. Independent-sovereign Bangladesh has been achieved. The spirit of nationalism and sense of rights was fulfilled by the sacrifice of the students of Dhaka University on February 1st.

BNP General Secretary claimed that the stone of one-party rule has been placed on the shoulders of the people by destroying that spirit and said that the entire nation has been blocked in the net of misrule by burying democracy. People’s leader Khaleda Zia has been unjustly imprisoned in a false case framed by illegal power and revenge has been taken.

He also said that the illegitimate government has become reckless and tyrannical in its efforts to expand power once again through one-sided dummy elections on January 7. The people are standing in the spirit of Ekush against the ongoing terrible misrule.

Mirza Fakhrul said, I strongly believe that the struggling people of this country, inspired by the spirit of Ekush, will strengthen and intensify the movement for the liberation of the country’s leader, along with the revival of dying democracy.

Mirza Fakhrul also mentioned that because of the glorious contribution of language martyrs, Amar Ekushey February is being celebrated all over the world today as International Mother Language Day.
