A senior official from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will travel to Argentina to meet with the Government and supervise the economic plan. This was confirmed by the organization’s spokesperson, Julie Kozack.

“The deputy general director Gita Gopinath will travel to Argentina this week to meet with government officials and others to hear about the country’s difficult economic and social challenges, as well as its vast potential,” he expressed on his social networks.

A 52-year-old Indian-American economist and academic, Gopinath is Kristalina Georgieva’s right-hand woman and is particularly involved in the Argentine case.

It will be the first time that the official who holds the same position that David Lipton had during the presidency of Mauricio Macri, will come to Argentina. Previously, he met with the Minister of Economy Luis Caputo and the Chief of Staff, Nicolás Posse, in Washington.
