For the 18th time, the traditional “Soup Sunday” took place in the Zwettl Abbey parish after the holy masses on the first Sunday of Lent, February 18th. The masses were celebrated by the abbot of Zwettl Abbey Johannes Maria Szypulski and chaplain Father Paulus Nüss. The sermons were given by deacon and director of the Caritas Diocese of St. Pölten Hannes Ziselsberger. After the church services, “Care and care at home” was offered in the parish hall by the Caritas Zwettl social station and carefully prepared “fasting soups”, such as pumpkin and garlic cream soup as well as goulash and fried potato soup, were offered by the volunteers from the Caritas Zwettl working group. There was also coffee and home-baked pastries. You could also find out about Caritas home nursing, home help, nursing aids and the emergency telephone. A qualified health and nursing assistant was available to check blood pressure and measure blood sugar. This was very popular with visitors. The donations will be used to purchase a nursing bed.
