The Museum of Contemporary European Art in Barcelona (Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona, MACBA, Spain) hosted a solo concert by the famous pianist, laureate of international competitions Saida Zulfugarova, with great success, Day.Az reports. At the evening, works by world classics and contemporary authors were performed to applause from the audience.
MACBA is an art museum in the capital of Catalonia. The building, designed by architect Richard Meier, opened on November 28, 1995. The museum’s collection contains mainly works of art from the second half of the 20th century, as well as works by contemporary artists. It hosts weekly concerts of jazz and classical music performed by talented and famous musicians from around the world.
Saida Zulfugarova was born in Baku and already in her childhood was a laureate of numerous national competitions. Graduated from the Baku Music Academy named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli. She received a master’s degree in musicology from the Sorbonne University in Paris, defending a diploma on the work of the great Azerbaijani composer Gar Garayev. She taught at various educational institutions, including the Pauline Viardot-Garcia Conservatory. He performs at numerous festivals and gives solo concerts in France, Sweden, Germany, Nigeria, Spain, Malta, etc. Among the awards is the Woman of the Year medal (2019) for her creative achievements and participation in the life of the city of Carrières-sous-Poissy, where she lives. The main directions of her concert programs are the classical piano repertoire and the popularization of works by Azerbaijani composers. She has implemented several significant musical projects dedicated to world and Azerbaijani classics.
