What you should know about Emirates, the airline that will arrive in Colombia

Civil Aeronautics approved the request of Emirates airline to operate a new route between Bogotá and Dubai (United Arab Emirates) with a stopover in Miami (United States).

The approval of Aerocivil contemplates the start of regular daily passenger operations, approximately from June 3, 2024. In addition, this request is made with traffic rights of up to fifth freedom of the air (carrying and disembarking passengers, cargo and mail in third states) through the United States.

The flights will be operated with Boeing 777-200LR and 777-300ER aircraft with a capacity of up to 354 passengers. There will be three classes and each flight will have 14 tons of cargo.

The airline company presented to Aerocivil a study that proves the existence of a growing demand for air travel between Colombia and the United Arab Emirates.

With this approval, Colombia became the third South American country to have a route operated by Emirates, after Brazil (Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo) and Argentina (Buenos Aires).

Emirates Group and its airline

The airline made its first flight from Dubai (UAE) in 1985, when it had only two aircraft. Currently, it has more than 150 destinations on six continents.

In addition, it has the world’s largest fleet of Airbus A380 and Boeing 777.

The company belongs to the Emirates Group and is headquartered in Dubai and brings together the main travel, tourism and leisure brands. This includes ground services provider dnata.

They are interested in the aviation, retail, sports and leisure sectors as they seek the opportunities offered by a more active lifestyle.

Among the group’s brands are global logistics company, Emirates SkyCargo, and Emirates Leisure Retail which represents various brands and food outlets such as Costa, Pret A Manger and Giraffe World Kitchen.
