Mumbai: Maharashtra Sagari Mahamandal is starting Ro-Ro service (Vasai-Bhayandar Ro Ro Service) between Vasai Kilabunder and Bhayandar from 20th February. With the start of this service, the distance between the two cities will be reduced by 34 kilometers. Along with this, 55 minutes of time will also be saved. This service will continue from 7:45 in the morning to 7:30 in the evening. The first boat will leave from Vasai and the last boat will leave from Bhayander.
Actually, the work of RoRO service between Basai-Bhayander was going on for a long time on behalf of Maharashtra Sagari Mahamandal. It is reported that about Rs 6.02 crores will be spent on this service. This service is going to start from Tuesday. The first boat will leave at quarter to seven in the morning. Which will reach Bhayandar at seven o’clock.

How many people will be able to travel?
Chief Executive Officer of Maharashtra Sagari Mahamandal, Dr. Manik Gursal said that the Ro-Ro service will be operated on an experimental basis for the first three months. During this period, two companies have been given the responsibility of operating the Ro-Ro service. This time 100 people will be able to travel by boat. Apart from this, 33 vehicles can be transported in one ferry.

What was the hindrance in Ro-Ro service?
For the past several years, there was a demand to start Ro-Ro service between Bhayander and Vasai. Preparations were also done by building a jetty in Bhayandar West to start the service, but due to some technical and administrative reason, the Ro-Ro service could not be started.

When was the plan approved
Actually, approval for Ro-Ro service between Bhayander-Vasai was given in the year 2016, but due to delay in getting permission from Archeology, Environment and Coastal Department, the work of the jetty could not be completed on time.

How much rent will you have to pay?
The fare will be Rs 15 per trip for children below 12 years of age and Rs 30 per trip for children above 12 years of age. Apart from this, the fare for two wheeler, three wheeler and four wheeler with driver will be Rs 60, 100 and 180 respectively. You will have to pay Rs 40 for vegetables, fruit sticks etc.
