Carolina Ledesma, 22, was found murdered, apparently hanged with a sheetthis Sunday night in the city of Fernández, 45 kilometers south of the capital of Santiago del Estero. The main suspect is his ex-partner, Matías Loto, also 22 years old, who is intensively sought by the police, but who still remains a fugitive.
The victim was found by her father around 9:30 p.m., in a house on Almirante Brown Street, between Balcarce and Alfonsín, where she lived alone. The girl’s ex-partner is intensively sought as the main suspect in the femicide since, according to Ledesma’s relatives, he had already threatened to kill her.
The prosecutor of the Gender Violence Unit, Pedro Ibáñez, ordered a series of measures and expertise, among them, the performance of the autopsy. The experts could also analyze a series of traces found on the mattress where, according to the experts’ speculation, the alleged murderer climbed on top of Carolina. In addition, the victim’s hands were preserved to analyze possible genetic traces left under his nails, in case he tried to defend himself and scratched his attacker.
The judicial investigation estimates a “possible femicide” as the main hypothesis, since Carolina lived in a “context of gender violence.”This was warned by the first testimonies collected by friends and family who allege “fights” on the part of both.
There are even cross complaints from both from previous months, where, on the one hand, the young woman reported him for threats and harassment, since he did not accept that the relationship had ended; and on the other hand, he accused her of injuries and threats.
