On Tuesday, Sheriff Thaddeus Cleveland of the United States Border Patrol reported that a Cuban was arrested for introducing illegal immigrants into the territory.

According to the report, the operation was “another successful joint interdiction conducted by the Pecos County Sheriff’s Office and the Terrell County Sheriff’s Office in northern Terrell County.”

The official wrote on his social networks that the subject was introducing approximately eight illegal immigrants into the country.

He explained that the arrested Cuban had won a Political Asylum case and was accused of the crime of illegal foreign smuggling.

“This load of illegal alien smuggling had approximately eight illegal aliens leaving. Two were detained and the driver, a Cuban allowed to enter Political Asylum, was arrested and accused of illegal foreign smuggling,” the publication reads.

Last Sunday, a chase began in Pecos County that ended without incident, in which a subject was arrested for smuggling illegal immigrants.

“On Sunday, February 18, 2024, around 3:15 a.m., Pecos County deputies assisted DPS and Brewster County on a pursuit out of Brewster County. The chase made its way onto IH-10 Eastbound from Highway 67 South, as they were pursuing a Honda Civic. Pecos County deputies were able to place spikes down and the driver of the Honda Civic began to slow down and eventually stopped without incident. The Driver of the Honda Civic was arrested for Human Smuggling, as he had two undocumented immigrants with him,” reported the Pecos County Sheriff’s Office.
