Azerbaijan in 2023 became the largest supplier of oil to Italy.
According to information from the Italian Ministry of Environment and Energy Security, in 2023 Azerbaijan supplied about 11.3 million tons of oil to Italy, which is 25% more than in 2022, Day.Az reports.
During the reporting period, Italy increased imports of Azeri Light oil by 17.8% compared to 2022, to 7.3 million tons, Azeri Blend – by 41.2%, to 4 million tons.
It should be noted that from January to August 2023, Azerbaijan exported 7.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Europe, which means a 9 percent year-on-year increase. During this period, Azerbaijan exported 6.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas, including 3.8 billion cubic meters via the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) to Turkey and 1.5 billion cubic meters to Georgia.
Azerbaijan supplies gas to Europe via the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), which is part of the Southern Gas Corridor. Its capacity is 10 billion cubic meters, expandable to 20 billion cubic meters per year.
