“This is a very important investment for Rhodes that will provide a great added value”
Rhodes was visited by the president of TEE, Giorgos Stasinos in the context of his contacts throughout Greece in view of the elections for the selection of the new administration of the organization which will take place on May 19. Mr. Stassinos visited the New Marina of Rhodes and had a meeting with members of the Management, during which he was informed about the new investment plans and the project that has been launched.
After the meeting he stated that the development of the marinas will contribute to the upgrading of the country’s tourism product and he described the investment in the new Marina of Rhodes as very important.
“I think in general that the tourism product of Greece should be strengthened with the development of Marinas… It is not possible to live in a country like Greece and while there is a competitive product in terms of marinas in Turkey, we do not develop this part.
I was informed about the perspective that exists with the new marina project and the related ordinance… I think that based on the needs of the local community, things can be improved. Nevertheless, the plan, which I consider to be in the right direction, impressed me. This is a very important investment for Rhodes that will provide a great added value. But we must be in a good mood and work together for the good of the place.
In Greece, when … different things happen, there are always reactions. But we have to overcome this. When we understand the benefits for the local community, we will realize that every individual citizen benefited when such important development projects are made and when there are investors who want to throw such large sums into investments. We are not going to develop in Greece if there are no private investments, only public ones”, said the president of the TEE, G. Stasinos. With reference to the reactions expressed by various parties to the investment in New Marina (among others by the TEE Dodecanese), Mr. Stassinos stated that they should not stand in the way of the country’s development path.
“In more detail, he stated the following: The country has a development course which should not be stopped. We can’t go back. I found this work presented to me logical, tasteful and important. If specific changes need to be made to improve the masterplan, it should be co-decided with the local community and local bodies if necessary. It is not possible for populism not to let the country move forward.”
Finally, Mr. Stassinos referred to the upcoming elections for the selection of the new administration of the TEE, saying that: “I believe that the TEE has changed a lot in recent years. Important projects have been carried out such as the single digital map, the electronic identity, the digitization of town planning records and so many other things that facilitate the citizen. We are a champion agency in the country’s digital and green transformation. We will continue forward at this pace so that citizens can do their jobs more easily, digitally. We will continue on this path for the next four years if I am elected again as president of the TEE”.
