The Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA) issued a statement to deny erroneous information circulating on social networks, according to which a new resolution had been issued on the export of live cattle and beef. The ICA clarifies that it has not issued or published any new resolution in this regard.

It is reported that what happened recently corresponds to the socialization of a draft resolution that contemplates a possible readjustment of current regulations. Since 2022, the ICA has opened spaces for citizen participation to collect information, contributions and necessary elements that allow a possible regulatory update.

In the socialization carried out on February 19, the draft resolution was presented to receive observations and concerns from unions, public entities and citizens in general. The objective of the day was to review, analyze and adjust the regulatory project based on the contributions received.

It is important to note that no new resolution has been issued to date. The ICA’s work has focused on addressing the instructions of the National Animal Welfare Committee to improve animal welfare conditions during the export process.

As a result of citizen participation, the need to hold additional technical tables to listen to proposals and identify regulatory alternatives was determined. These tables will be held in the second week of March, focusing especially on the spaces of the animals assigned to the motor ships.

The ICA highlights that Resolution 97977 of 2021 remains in force and supports the export processes of live cattle to different international markets.

A call is made to confirm the information before sharing it on social networks and other media, urging verification of sources, especially on issues relevant to the agricultural sector. The ICA emphasizes the importance of consulting its official channels for accurate and up-to-date information.
