Microsoft engineers have added artificial intelligence (AI) features to the Notepad text editor. This was reported by the Neowin publication, Day.Az reports with reference to Lenta.ru.

The update was noticed by an IT enthusiast under the nickname PhantomOcean3, who spoke about it on the social network X. The user discovered in the new version of Notepad, available in an early build of Windows 11, buttons hinting at the addition of AI.

In particular, the “Rewrite”, “Make Shorter”, “Make Longer”, “Change Tone” and “Change Format” buttons appeared in the program menu. The buttons are located in the “Co-author” section. According to the specialist, this is how Microsoft taught the standard program to work with text.

“It seems that not a single oldest Windows application will escape the influence of artificial intelligence,” the publication’s journalists commented on the news. According to the authors’ forecast, the new feature will appear in the public version of Windows in the coming months.
