For the first time this year, PAS found itself in such an advantageous position, starting a game impressively, many things happening on the pitch, leading 2-0 in the first 20 minutes, having a very good first half and losing everything in the second half of the match. In the replay, as the minutes ticked by, he began to crumble, losing his bearings as well as the victory in his hands, after OFI leveled at 2-2 and in the end threatened with a third goal for the total upset. The approximately four to four and a half thousand sports fans who were at the “Zosimades” stadium left the stadium silent and bitter. When the Resident blew the whistle to end the game, the frozen stadium was completely silent. The people did not have the courage either to applaud or to disapprove. He left the field in silence with a thousand and two thoughts tormenting his mind. When you don’t win that game that you have in your grasp from the start then when are you going to win to make up for it?
The game started with an important opportunity for OFI in the 7th minute with Baku who missed on his own and we almost saw another play, like the one in the previous games, where PAS conceded a goal from the locker room. After overcoming this goal, PAS was the protagonist until the end of the half. In the 9th minute he made it 1-0 with Rossero and in the 20th minute it was 2-0 with Conte. He kicked the ball, he had the right development and everything was going well for him.
But in the second half it was a completely different game. OFI renewed with the changes, improved to a great extent from 65′ and then started to pressure PAS, to have possession of the ball. PAS retreated, either to keep the 2-0, or because it could not keep OFI up. In the 68th minute, from a long shot, a goal was scored by Bakits, which was not smelled just for a goal. The OFI striker didn’t think he would score a goal either. And yet he came in and started putting the Heraklion team in the game for good. In the 77th minute, Grigoriou switched Karahalio instead of Rienstra and Balan instead of Conte, without changing anything in essence. PAS continued to have the same image, not being able to keep OFI up. Thus, in the 82nd minute, Balan scored the penalty with which Bakic equalized at 2-2. Towards the end, Leo, Demir, Rosales passed, but too late for the counterattack bell to ring. The local team had run out of imagination and energy and in these situations you say if you can’t win a game then don’t lose it. After 2-2, OFI could also score a third goal at times, just like PAS in the 90′ when Leo missed from close range, but he was in a right lateral position.
Based on the picture, where both teams had a good half each, the result is considered fair. The grade obtained by PAS cannot be satisfactory. But from…nothing good is also the point. Were they tired, pressed so much by OFI, did they want to keep the 2-0? Whatever is true of these does not change the essence. The scoreboard read 2-2 and PAS threw away two extremely valuable points, making it even more difficult for its position in the battle for survival. Now he will have to prepare for Wednesday’s game against AEK in Philadelphia and then for the other crucial game against Atromitos in Ioannina.
The referee Katikos showed the intention from the beginning to push OFI, he gave him whistles, but the refereeing does not come into the equation of the final result. PAS is solely to blame for the bad image of the second half.
