As part of the Culture Days, a book exhibition entitled “The Culture of Azerbaijan with Ancient Roots” was opened at the National Library of Qatar, as well as a presentation of the book “The Great Azerbaijani Poet Nizami”, translated into Arabic by the outstanding orientalist scholar, academician Yevgeny Bertels, and an event entitled “ Muhammad Fuzuli is a poet of three languages.”

According to Day.Az, the Secretary of State of Qatar, President of the National Library of Qatar, Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari, who spoke at the event, emphasized that cooperation between Qatar and Azerbaijan in various fields is developing in an upward direction. He described the holding of the Days of Azerbaijani Culture in Qatar as a significant event in the field of cultural cooperation and wished success to the delegation of our country.

The Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Adil Karimli, expressed gratitude to the Minister of Culture of Qatar, Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Thani, for his support in organizing the Azerbaijani Culture Days: “The sincere friendly relations of the leaders of our countries played an important role in achieving a high level of ties between Azerbaijan and Qatar in various fields. “In cooperation in the political and economic sphere, we must work to develop relations in the cultural sphere. Projects must be implemented that will contribute to the mutual popularization of the rich culture of the two countries.”

The minister emphasized that, in accordance with the relevant Order of President Ilham Aliyev, the 530th anniversary of the birth of the world famous Azerbaijani poet and thinker Muhammad Fizuli is celebrated this year. Muhammad Fizuli, who played an exceptional role in the development of Azerbaijani literature in the Middle Ages, wrote his works in Azerbaijani, Arabic and Persian. His rich creativity is known not only in Azerbaijan, but throughout the world. Celebrating the 530th anniversary of Muhammad Fuzuli for the first time outside of Azerbaijan at the Qatar National Library is of great significance and has symbolic significance.

At the end of his speech, Adil Karimli expressed gratitude to everyone who made efforts to organize the Days of Azerbaijani Culture in Qatar.

In his speech, the director of the Azerbaijan National Library, Professor Kerim Tairov provided information on cooperation between the national libraries of the two countries. According to him, holding the Days of Azerbaijani Culture in Qatar will serve to deepen ties in the library sector. He also spoke about the book “The Great Azerbaijani Poet Nizami” translated into Arabic by academician Yevgeny Bertels. “Nizami Ganjavi, who lived and worked in the 12th century, is one of the unique geniuses whom the Azerbaijani people gave to world culture. The book “The Great Azerbaijani Poet Nizami” has been translated into several languages. The translation of this fundamental scientific work written in 1940 into Arabic will contribute closer acquaintance of the entire Arab world with the priceless heritage of the great Azerbaijani poet and thinker,” said K. Tairov.

Then a video was shown dedicated to the life and work of the great Azerbaijani poet Muhammad Fizuli.

Secretary of the Azerbaijan Writers’ Union Ilgar Fakhmi spoke about the ideological and artistic features of the work of Muhammad Fuzuli and his influence on literary thought in the Turkic-Islamic world.

Then a mugham trio performed. The performance of mugams and tesnifs by young singers was met with applause.

At the end, the participants of the event got acquainted with the exhibition “Culture of Azerbaijan with Ancient Roots”. The guests also tasted Azerbaijani national sweets.

Let us remind you that from February 21 to 24, the Azerbaijani Culture Days are being held in Qatar with the organizational support of the Ministry of Culture.
