The concert-spectacle of local talents and the play “Epic of the Forgotten” are the highlights of this year’s celebration of the March 3 National Holiday in Ruse, the press center of the municipality reports.
The large-scale project “Homage and Remembrance”, organized by the Municipal Children’s Center for Culture and Art, is free to enter and starts at 12:30 in the Great Hall of the Income Building. It features Joana Doneva and the folk dance ensemble “Zdravets”. The folk singing school, the soloists of the children’s vocal group “Sun” and the folk ensemble “Ruschukliche” from the children’s center. The choir “St. Georgi Pobedonosets, soloists from pop and jazz singing studio “Ikonomov”, folk dance studio “Zora”, ballet “Impuls” from the municipal youth center, as well as folk dance theater “Nayden Kirov”, sports dance club “Nastroenie”, the ballet group at NUI “Prof. Veselin Stoyanov” and the first grader from “Lyuben Karavelov” elementary school Nikolay Vladova.
The culmination on Sunday will be the performance of the Drama Theater “Sava Ognyanov” “Epic of the Forgotten” based on the cycle of odes by Ivan Vazov – from 6 p.m. in the Chamber Hall.
“With the help of the talented actors from the troupe, I believe that we managed to light another candle in the memory of today’s generation”, commented the director of the show Ivaylo Nenov. The actors Ivana Keranova, Ivaylo Spasimirov, Krum Berkov, Lyubomir Kanev, Mariana Krumova, Rostislav Pankov and Borislav Apostolov.
The scenography and costumes are the work of Evgenia Yavasheva, and the music is by Plamen Mirchev Mirona. Specially priced tickets can be purchased at the theater box office from 10:00am to 2:00pm and 2:30pm to 6:00pm weekdays, as well as online at
During the day, according to tradition, the ceremony of accepting the honor guard and laying wreaths and flowers in front of the Freedom Monument will be held. It starts at 11:30 a.m. and will include the service of a funeral prayer and a thanksgiving prayer by the Holy Metropolis of Rousse. After it, at 12:30 p.m., folk dance lovers can join the longest dance organized by the “Rodolyubets” folk dance club in the Vasata area in the Youth Park.
