Quit your job, rent an apartment, pack your kids into a caravan and go on a trip around the world. Utopia? Among the Czech citizens, there are quite a few families who are exploring foreign destinations right now. Aktuálně.cz magazine spoke with several such adventurers, see what life looks like with small and teenage children “on the road”.
Adam and Kristina are still on the road. They have Canada, the United States and Mexico in the legs and tires of their specially modified caravan. They are traveling with two small children and their schedules look like that. “We soon found out that in order not to go crazy, we have to keep in mind activities that we adults don’t enjoy, but for children they are moments of the day. So, in addition to national parks and museums, we also go around city swimming pools, beaches or playgrounds,” they explain parents.

Janek, Eva and their three older children also completed the bike tour. They also toured both Americas, Japan and Australia. But their children were not always enthusiastic about traveling.

Jan and Martina are Czechs who met in Zealand, but one day they stopped enjoying life in one place. They took their three smaller children not only after the beauties of New Zealand, but also went to Australia. They educate them in the form of so-called unschooling. “We are not 100% alternative, we try to do maths and English online, but we don’t do it regularly. It’s not like the children have to calculate examples every day. We don’t force them to do it. They mainly learn by doing,” says their mother.
