Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that as technology is improving, crimes are also being committed in different ways. New levels of crime are emerging. Let our police force be ready to deal with them properly. We are very careful and looking into this.
He said these things in a speech addressed to senior police officers at the Prime Minister’s Office on Thursday (February 29).
The Prime Minister said, if the method of dealing with the crime is not working, then it cannot be dealt with properly.
The Prime Minister called on all men, women and children to fulfill their responsibilities in the workplace, and said that everyone wants to serve them.
Commenting on the police as a friend of the people, the Chief Minister said that our police force is now working as a friend of the people. Nowadays people are not afraid like before. Now they have regained confidence. Common people consider police as their friend and place of trust. People have to earn this trust and confidence.
Sheikh Hasina said that the cases of setting fire, killing the police, throwing the police into the fire, these cases have long history. Cases do not proceed properly. I think that those who commit such crimes, if their case and punishment are speedy, then they will not have courage in future.
He said that no one can attack the police like this in the future, be it in the name of politics or terrorism. No one can take the law into their own hands and deteriorate law and order. Can’t damage people’s life and property, can’t damage national resources. The police should be persistent in this regard. Whenever that is required, the appropriate role should be played.
Highlighting the progress of the country, the Prime Minister said, today, nobody looks down on Bangladesh internationally because of being in power for 15 years. Bangladesh has now made a place for itself in the world. Now everyone sees Bangladesh as a role model for development.
He said, we have to keep it and move forward. That’s why it is everyone’s duty to carry out proper responsibilities starting from the implementation of any work or project, starting from the safety of people’s lives and property to solving any crime and ensuring punishment. So you all will work like that.
Condemning the Israeli attack on Palestine, Sheikh Hasina said that Bangladesh has strongly protested against the ongoing attack and genocide on Palestine. I protested it everywhere. In this way, unspeakable torture and massacre of Palestinian children and women! Not only that, their food, medical care, hospitals have all been attacked. Even where relief is distributed, there are attacks. There can be no more heinous and anti-human act than this.
