On February 22, the outstanding Azerbaijani composer, conductor, teacher, public figure, professor, holder of the Shohrat Order, People’s Artist Suleiman Aleskerov turns 100 years old.
According to Day.Az, in this regard, an event was held at the house-museum of Kara Garayev, a branch of the State Museum of Musical Culture of Azerbaijan.
The event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the prominent composer was opened by the director of the State Museum of Musical Culture of Azerbaijan, Doctor of Art History, Honored Cultural Worker Alla Bayramova.
Kara Karaeva’s daughter Zuleikha Karaeva-Bagirova, deputy director of the museum Tarana Zeynalova, and a former student of Suleiman Aleskerov shared their memories of the unforgettable musician.
Sevda Gurbanzade, a piano teacher at children’s art school No. 1 named after Suleyman Aleskerov, spoke about the life and creative path of the outstanding composer, his active participation in the development of our musical culture, his reputation among the public as an enlightened intellectual, and his teaching activities.
The event continued with a colorful concert program consisting of works by Suleyman Aleskerov, Azerbaijani and world classics performed by students of Sevda Gurbanzade’s class.
Musical performances were accompanied by slide shows based on the rich collections of the State Museum of Musical Culture of Azerbaijan.
