Slovenia chooses Azerbaijan as a key strategic partner in diversifying energy supplies.

As Day.Az reports with reference to Trend, this was stated by the Minister of Environment, Climate and Energy of Slovenia Boyan Kumer during the 10th ministerial meeting of the Advisory Council on the Southern Gas Corridor and the 2nd ministerial meeting of the Advisory Council on Green Energy, held today in Baku

“Our partners play a key role in the EU’s efforts to diversify gas supplies, and Azerbaijan has been identified as a key strategic partner,” the minister noted.

Boyan Kumer emphasized the critical role of gas for the continent’s economy. “Gas has always played a decisive role in the energy balance of Slovenia and Europe, especially in the industrial sector,” he added.

Let us remind you that the 10th meeting of the Advisory Council on the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) is taking place on March 1.

During the meeting, it is planned to sign a number of documents both on the expansion of the SGC and the inclusion of new participating countries in its composition, and on “green” energy projects.

A separate session is planned on green energy projects and a number of important agreements.

Let us note that the Southern Gas Corridor has been fully operational since December 2020 and supplies gas to Italy (over nine billion cubic meters per year), to Greece and Bulgaria – one billion cubic meters per year to each country.

In 2022, EU countries received 11.4 billion cubic meters of gas worth 15.6 billion euros.

In 2023, this volume reached 11.8 billion cubic meters of gas.
