The Dhaka district administration is providing financial assistance of Tk 25 thousand to the families of each of the victims who died in the fire incident in the multi-storied building on Bailey Road in the capital. Besides, each injured person is being given 10,000 taka, considering the situation 15,000 taka.
Additional District Magistrate AKM Hedayetul Islam is giving this money from the temporary information and support center of the district administration in front of the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (Dhamek) on Friday (March 1). At that time he gave this information.
He said that 25,000 taka is being paid in cash for burial and other expenses of the deceased. Besides, the injured are being given 10,000 to 15,000 taka.
He said that 46 people were killed in the Bailey Road fire. Among them, 39 bodies have been identified so far. Six bodies have not been identified.
The fire broke out at the Green Cozy Cottage building on Bailey Road at around 10pm on Thursday (February 29). The fire was brought under control around 11:50 pm with the efforts of 13 units of the fire service.
