The Legislative Assembly reformed the Tax Code to establish taxpayer identification requirements that facilitate and equalize the application of the different billing modalities and, at the same time, establish effective and transparent tax controls.

The amendments contemplate modifications to article 114 which indicates that, when the value of the operation exceeded or was equal to $200, the names, signatures and Unique Identity Document (DUI) number of the person who delivered must be established on the original invoice. and from which he received the document.

With the modifications approved now, this process will only be carried out when the amount is greater than $25 thousand. Additionally, when the invoice must be used to document deductions of costs or expenses, the tax identification number or DUI number of such purchasers or borrowers must be stated, as the case may be.

Representative Dania González expressed that these changes will make tax controls more transparent and improve.

“Currently, when making a payment equal to or greater than $200 in a business, they ask us for a signature, the DUI and other additional documentation. The amendments seek to increase the amount of operations to request documents up to $25,000, that is, above this amount documentation will be requested,” González said.

The parliamentarian also expressed that it was necessary to make this update given that this year, according to the Travel and Tourism Council, tourism will increase to 157%, and this will increase the cash flow that businesses receive.
