A lot of things are digital these days. Do you want to watch a series, listen to a certain song or pass the time with a game? You can do all of this conveniently on your computer or even on your cell phone. This would have been unthinkable just a few decades ago.

But even though the technological revolution has only been with us for a few decades, there are already devices that have long been forgotten. Would your children or grandchildren still be able to use a floppy disk, Walkman or jukebox?

Find out for yourself in our quiz how fit you are with the technology from earlier times. Can you answer all the questions correctly and demonstrate your technical expertise?

Development is extremely fast

Think back to when you held your first cell phone in your hand. Isn’t it incredible how quickly the clunky cell phone became a handy push-button cell phone and finally a touchscreen giant?

Technology has also developed extremely quickly in other areas. Even major tech experts were regularly wrong in their assessments. Microsoft founder Bill Gates is said to have once predicted: “Nobody needs more than 640 kilobytes of RAM.” Anyone who looks at their computer or even their smartphone today is more likely to read four, eight or sixteen gigabytes. That’s 25,000 times as much as Gates once dared to estimate.

Are we just at the beginning?

According to Moore’s Law, computing power doubles approximately every two years while costs remain approximately the same. An assumption that still works quite reliably today – unbelievable, right? That is why it is often said that we are developing exponentially in terms of technology. However, we are only at the foot of the growth curve.

What do you think the technology industry and the bright minds of our time have in store for us? Or are you more skeptical about the ongoing developments?
