The publication brings together 13 biographies of women artists who reside in Guatemala and who have been part of the art collective Niñas Furia.

The book «Furia Girls: Women artists in Guatemala» seeks to publicize the work of women artists who, with their work in graphic design, muralism, illustration, education and political activism, have fought against gender inequality.

About the authors and other contributors to the book

«Niñas Furia: Women artists in Guatemala» is an original idea by Sandra Arizandieta. The editing and writing of the biographies was carried out by Camila Caris and the photographs are by Nico Ramírez.

The person responsible for the project is Sofía Marroquín, while the layout and printing was in charge of Bryan Castro and Valeria Leiva. In addition, there was support from the Central American Women’s Fund (FCAM).

Release date

The book launch event will take place next Tuesday, March 5 at 5:30 p.m. at the Cultural Center of Spain, located on 6a. Avenida 11-02, zone 1 of Guatemala City.

Its presentation takes place in a month in which International Women’s Day is celebrated and in which the valuable participation of women in society and the importance of equality with men is recognized.

The program will begin with the presentation of a mural in honor of the artists of the book and then there will be a discussion about the research that supported it with some of the people involved in its creation.
