/ Agence France-Presse reported on Friday that a high-level security meeting will be held by Pakistan to discuss the exchange of strikes with Iran, which caused casualties on both sides.

The agency reported that Pakistani Prime Minister Anwar Haq Kakar will hold an emergency security meeting today with army and intelligence commanders following an exchange of air strikes with Iran.

She pointed out that the Prime Minister of Pakistan’s interim government, Anwarul Haq Kakar, had cut short his visit to Davos, Switzerland, to participate in the World Economic Forum following the attacks.

Military operations, which rarely occurred in the porous border region of Balochistan, which is shared between the two countries, led to an increase in regional tensions that were already escalating due to the war between Israel and Hamas.

Iran launched a missile attack and drones on what it described as “terrorist” targets in Pakistan on Tuesday night, and Iran responded by striking militant targets inside Pakistani territory on Thursday.

The United Nations and the United States called for restraint, while China offered to mediate between the two countries.

A spokesman for the Prime Minister’s Office told Agence France-Presse, “The Prime Minister called for a meeting of the National Security Committee to be held today.”

A security official in Islamabad said that the Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of Intelligence would attend the meeting in the afternoon.

Kakar’s government is in charge of caretaker affairs in Pakistan until the general elections scheduled in three weeks, amid allegations of fraud.
