The Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan, together with the Ganja-Dashkesan Regional Department of Culture, the Ganja State Philharmonic named after Fikret Amirov and the Union of Ashugs of Azerbaijan, continues to implement the project “Our Musical Identity” (Musiqi kimliyimiz), the press service of the Philharmonic told Day.Az.
In the Urban Center at the Ganja state philharmonic hall, a concert program was presented by the ensemble and students of Children’s Music School No. 5 named after Zarifa Gaibova of Ganja, who performed the compositions Aləsgər büzüləmesi, Şirvan Gülü, Sarıtorpaq, Ceyranım, Baş Müxämmez, Paşaköçdü, Koroğlu cengisi.
The project presents evenings dedicated to ashug art and epics with a centuries-old history. Ashug art, which is the basis of national folk art, is included in the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage. The goal of the project is to promote national values among young people and present the ancient heritage to the general public.
Let us remind you that on March 2 at 19:00 an evening will be held at the Philharmonic, which will be dedicated to the memory of the outstanding representative of Azerbaijani ashug art, master of words and saz, Ashug Alesker.
