For the first time, a five-day long ‘faculties exchange program’ with the participation of foreign service academies of BIMSTEC member countries has started on Sunday (March 3) at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka.

Foreign Service Academy Rector Ambassador Mashfi Binte Shams, BIMSTEC Secretariat Director Mahishini Colon, Ministry of Foreign Affairs SAARC and BIMSTEC Wing Director General Ambassador Abdul Motaleb Sarkar spoke at the inauguration ceremony. 13 faculties of Foreign Service Academies from 7 countries of BIMSTEC participated in this programme.

The five-day program from March 3-7 will present proposals on ways to enhance mutual cooperation among foreign service training institutions of BIMSTEC member countries.

This kind of program was organized for the first time in the light of the memorandum of understanding signed between the member countries at the BIMSTEC conference held in Sri Lanka in March 2022.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding, the countries will work to increase overall cooperation, including organizing short courses for the participation of officials of the countries as part of increasing the training capacity of the foreign service academies of the member countries.
