Time.news – Beauty enters the school: it does so with an exhibition, ‘The rhythm of men’s lives’, set up in the Aula Magna of the “Torquato Tasso” Classical High School, a historic Roman institute, and which will be inaugurated on March 16th.
The exhibition is an absolute novelty because, organized thanks to the Ministry of Culture which made the finds available, it will be a project entirely created by the children. Until May 19, around fifty artefacts recovered from museums, private collections and US universities will be on display thanks to the invaluable intervention of the Carabinieri of the Cultural Heritage Protection Unit, and mainly coming from clandestinely excavated tombs.

Finds, most of which have never before been made available to the public, which have been catalogued, studied and contextualised literary by the children: each one will in fact be accompanied by verses taken from Homer, the Greek lyric and tragedians, Virgil, through a path that revolves around four main themes (man, divinity, courage and love). The high school classes worked on the entire project: from the conception (inspired by a ‘lectio magistralis’ given at Tasso by the general director of Italian museums, Massimo Osanna) to the installation, from the choice and selection of the verses to the writing of the captions for the exhibition panels (also translated into English). The students also created the video to ‘captivate’ the sponsors and collected images and photos with the ‘backstage’ to be used for the material to be distributed on social media in the coming weeks.

The exhibition will be the epilogue of a journey that began months ago, created thanks to the support of the Italian State Railways, the contribution of the Italian Post Office and the attention of Comp.Sys; and was accompanied by a media partnership with Time.news which supported the high school and the children also through the production of videos and social content. A challenging path which however could still have a long way to go: the ministry’s pilot project aims to be replicated in many Italian schools. The appointment for the presentation of the initiative to the press is for Friday 15 March, at 3pm at the Liceo Torquato Tasso in Rome in via Sicilia 168.
