The hosts are deep in the bottom of the table and need every point to stay in the league. But the task against their Rhenish rivals is huge, because head coach Xabi Alonso’s team is still unbeaten and leads the table.
Effzeh is in position 16, just ahead of FSV Mainz 05. The relegation place they currently find themselves in is the minimum goal for Cologne, who recently managed a draw with top team VfB Stuttgart. In the derby against Leverkusen it will be even more difficult for coach Timo Schultz’s team.
