On January 17, on the occasion of Françoise Hardy’s 80th birthday, Sylvie Vartan published a series of photos from their younger years on Instagram.
“I would like to blow out many more candles with you,” she wrote.
Françoise Hardy, who has been fighting cancer for almost 20 years, expressed her wish last December to “leave soon and quickly, without too many challenges, such as the impossibility of breathing.”
In January, after having questioned Emmanuel Macron on the legalization of euthanasia, in a letter, the singer spoke with Brigitte Macron on the subject.
“We are all counting on your empathy and hope that you will allow the very sick and hopeless French people to get better, to stop their suffering when they know that there is no longer any relief possible,” she wrote in this letter.
Françoise Hardy has been an activist for many years in favor of the right to die with dignity.
The singer was diagnosed with cancer of the lymphatic system in 2004. After announcing her remission ten years later, she revealed in 2019 that she was suffering from a new cancer, in the pharynx.
