Shots were fired against the government for its handling of a number of issues, in a press conference he gave, the 2nd Member of Parliament of Thessaloniki of the “NIKI” movement, Mr. Nikos Papadopoulos.

Among other things, he referred to the issue that concerned him for a long time (and was finally passed by the Greek Parliament) regarding the marriage of same-sex couples, while he also spoke about the Ministry of Education’s bill that allows the operation of non-state branches of foreign universities in Greece – and is about to come up for a vote soon in the Parliament.

Mr. Papadopoulos expressed his joy at being in Rhodes on the occasion of the festivities of the Integration of the Dodecanese, on March 7, which he will attend.

“Greece is being attacked everywhere. The political forces of the country passed a shameful Law on the marriage of same-sex couples and the adoption of children. The current conservative government is proceeding with moves that it had not announced before the elections. The Parliament now functions like a party from the ND, PASOK and SYRIZA trying to pass a lot in the Parliament”.

However, he criticized the attitude of the Mitsotakis government on the issue of immigration policy and declared that he is in favor of the farmers’ struggle: “Our country must support the primary sector and provide solutions to the farmers’ problems.

He also referred to the flight of many Greeks and even students abroad, with the result that the country is running out of capable tomorrow’s scientists (and not only that).

Especially for the marriage of same-sex couples, Mr. Papadopoulos invoked the principles of Greek society based on the triptych ‘Patris – Religion – Family’, saying that the institution of the family has nothing to do with the law that was passed and gives rights to same-sex couples couples to marry. “When we talk about things that are self-evident, we are accused of being nationalists. They want to tear everything apart. But we, as a movement, will resist” – as he said.

Regarding the Ministry of Education bill allowing the operation of non-state branches of foreign universities in Greece, he called on the government to ensure the public nature and operation of state universities, so that everyone has access to education. “If this continues, the public universities will disappear” – said the “NIKI” member of parliament, among others.
