Today, Sunday, the Border Ports Authority announced that it thwarted the smuggling of 170 wheels at the northern port of Umm Qasr.

The authority said in a statement received by the (INA), that “a new qualitative operation was carried out as part of a series of painful strikes carried out by the Border Ports Authority, represented by cutting off all paths to those who tamper with and transgress the country’s security and its financial capabilities, as it took place this morning under field supervision by Major General Omar.” Adnan Al-Waeli, after obtaining a judicial decision from the investigating judge of Umm Qasr Court, proceeded to seize (43) containers containing wheels of various types other than the model permitted for import. Their total number reached (170) wheels prepared for smuggling at the northern port of Umm Qasr,” noting that “ Weak souls tried to hide the real model of the wheel and installed newer models to evade the import ban in a professional manner.”

She stated, “These efforts came out of the Border Ports Authority’s keenness to follow up and control the file of smuggling non-model wheels, as thousands of wheels intended for smuggling were seized and were gifted to state departments in accordance with Cabinet Resolution No. 80 of 2020, and the Authority continues to follow up on this file,” noting. To “form a committee in cooperation with the relevant departments and organize a proper arrest report and refer the vehicles to the Umm Qasr Customs Police Station to take appropriate legal measures against violators.”
