The arrest of two drug traffickers in the area of Thesprotia was adventurous, as a chase preceded it.

It all started in Igoumenitsa when police officers from the Narcotics Prosecution Department of the Igoumenitsa Security Sub-Directorate with police officers from the Igoumenitsa Traffic Department attempted to check a car driven by a Greek man with a foreigner as his passenger.
The driver did not comply with the policemen’s stop sign and developed speed, followed by the police forces, to come to a standstill in the Mazarakias area, when he collided with a parked car. The defendants abandoned their vehicle and tried to escape on foot, but the police managed to arrest them immediately.
Inside the car, 66 packages of raw cannabis, with a total weight of 87.5 kg, and ten packages of processed cannabis (“chocolate”) weighing 11 kg were found and confiscated. Also, the car was confiscated, which, as it turned out, belongs to an inmate in a detention center.
Furthermore, it was established that the driver of the car lacks a driver’s license, while the administrative measure of banning entry into the country had been imposed on the foreigner.
A case file was filed against the two arrested – as the case may be – for drug transport and trafficking, trespassing and violations regarding foreigners and the road traffic code.
