The second episode of Lidl’s 21st Century Skills educational series is now available to watch on You Tube channel of the company.

It is dedicated to media literacy. It is the set of knowledge and skills that allow each person to make informed choices about the media content they consume and, as a result, make decisions about the various areas of their lives, to distinguish between true and false information and to participate effectively in the various forms of communication.

The guests of the presenters are experts with many years of experience, Yulia Mishkova, senior specialist in “Project Management” at prepodavame.bg, and Kristina Hristova, chairman of the Coalition for Media Literacy and head of Factcheck.bg. With interesting examples, they explain in detail what media literacy is and why it is a key skill of the future.

“Knowing how the media environment works is that dose of healthy skepticism that can allow us to make smarter choices and decisions,” comments Yulia Mishkova.

“Media literacy gives people the opportunity to critically search for information, to work ethically in the Internet space, and it is important that these skills improve along with the development of social networks,” adds Kristina Hristova.

In addition, in the episode, everyone can learn how to effectively express their opinion in a public environment, interact with others and protect themselves from false information. The current topic of fake news and what are its distribution mechanisms, what are information bubbles and what are the risks of sharing personal information in an online environment are also commented on.

The 21st Century Skills videocast is a continuation of the successful internal personal, social and civic skills training program that has been running among Lidl employees for over 6 months now.

The first episode of the series was met with great interest and reached over 59 thousand views in less than a month.
